POLICY MANUAL
The Chelmsford Public Schools Policy Manual contains all of the policies that have been adopted by the Chelmsford School Committee. The policies serve to provide guidance to the Chelmsford School Committee, the Chelmsford Public Schools administration and staff, and the Chelmsford community regarding the organization and operation of the Chelmsford Public Schools. Policies are supported by more specific regulations: i.e. procedures that describe implementation of a policy at the central office or school level. Policies, in many instances, are further clarified by legal references important to the daily operation of our schools and by school handbooks, which are approved by the School Committee and describe procedural expectations at the school level. All policies, regulations and handbooks are born from the mission of the school system and a set of beliefs important to the Chelmsford School Committee.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Chelmsford Public Schools is to cultivate the development of students into educated, self-confident, lifelong learners and responsible citizens who possess personal integrity and the ability to succeed in a global society.
STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
- Education requires an active partnership among all sectors of our community.
- Education is the right of all children, not a privilege.
- Education is compromised by a lack of resources.
- Education provides the tools for lifelong learning.
- Education requires a commitment to all aspects of a child’s growth and development.
- Schools must reflect a comfortable atmosphere where students feel supported in their educational pursuits: where new beginnings are encouraged.
- Schools encompass a community of learners where all students can learn at different times, rates, and ways.
