Byam School Announcements

  • Boo Bash:  A Boo Bash where Byam families will meet.  There will be games, crafts and treats to eat!  Wear a costume, be wacky and kooky.  'Cause this celebration is only kinda spooky!

It's almost here!  Get your costumes ready!  The first Byam Boo Bash is only 1 week away!  We hope to see everyone there on October 24th from 6 - 9 pm.

Please consider volunteering an hour of your time at the event to help make it a success.  Shifts are available to help with ticket sales, food sales, games, arts and crafts, face painting and set-up and clean-up.

If you can't help the night of the event, please help out by baking or buying a cake for the infamous cake walk.  We need a lot of cakes.  (Cakes can be brought to the event or dropped off during school on Friday.)

No offers of help will be turned down!  To volunteer please go to Volunteer Spot at http://vols.pt/Cngjgm or email Betsy Wildes Butters at byamfundraising@gmail.com.  Thank you for your support!

Field Trips: This upcoming week we have a couple of exciting field trips happening for some of our Byam students. On Monday and Tuesday, our second graders will be visiting the Garrison House. This field trip is a wonderful Chelmsford tradition that transports our students back to colonial times right in our own back yard. On Wednesday half of our third graders will be visiting Minuteman National Park, one of the cradles of our country’s history. The other third grade students will be visiting Minuteman Park on the following week.

Perseverance at Byam:  On October 8, the students at Byam had grade level PRIDE meetings with Mr. Fredette our principal and Ms. Gesualdi our guidance counselor.  The focus of these meetings was the core value of perseverance.  Working hard and not giving up even when something is difficult is an important message and the story Mia Hamm Winners Never Quit by Carol Thompson was used as the springboard for these meetings.  The story tells about a young Mia Hamm wanting to quit when soccer games didn't go her way.  After discussing how she did show perseverance by the end of the story, examples of how we can exhibit perseverance at school and home were shared.

Absences:  If your student will be absent, a parent or guardian must call the office with the reason for their absence.   If you are calling outside the school hours, please use extension 1 (one) off the main menu.  If a student has been recorded as absent and we have not received a call the school office will call the student's contacts to verify the absence.
