The National Geographic Bee is a nationwide contest for schools in the United States. The Bee is conducted in English and is open to students in grades four through eight who are not over the age of 15. The Bee is an educational outreach program of the National Geographic Society. With a first-place prize of a $25,000 college scholarship – plus other prizes totaling nearly $100,000 – the Bee is designed to encourage the teaching and study of geography. Students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Department of Defense Dependents Schools are participating in the 2020 National Geographic Bee.
**Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Bee will not be held this year. Please encourage your student to check out the National Geographic Geography Bee website to learn more about Geography and engage in activities that will prepare them for the competition next year.
