McCarthy Arts Choices Grade 5
South Row Elementary uses a "Passport" which highlights expected behaviors in all locations in our building. Students at South Row show respect, responsibility, and saftey to show PRIDE. Ask your child about the South Row Passport!
The 3rd Annual Spring Fling will be held on Saturday May 18th from 3-7pm at the South Row Playground. This was a huge success and a great time had by all last year. During this event, the famous “basket raffle” will take place. There will be food, games, a magician, and a DJ at the event. We hope all families will join us for this very fun community building event and fundraiser.
Core Value of Dedication
This month’s core value is dedication. At South Row this means that we are being the best we can be individually in order to make our whole school community even better. We do this by giving our personal best.
The third and fourth graders will be taking their math MCAS tests on the following days. It is important that all students are here on time and have eaten a hearty breakfast. Good luck to third and fourth grade! We know they are prepared and will do their best!

Kindergarten Parent Orientation
Dr. McMahon, Mr. Ramalho, Mrs. O’Neill, Mrs. Sepe and Nurse Young will be hosting a Kindergarten Orientation evening on Wednesday May 8th for all parents of incoming Kindergarten students from 6-7pm in the cafeteria. Although we prefer this to be a parents only event, if you do not have childcare, please feel free to bring your child(ren) with something quiet to do during the presentation. We hope you can join us for this information night.
All incoming Kindergarten students for the 2018-19 school year, will be screened at South Row on Wednesday, May 22nd or Friday, May 24th. You should have signed up for a day/time for screening during registration. If you cannot remember the date or time for your screening, please contact the South Row main office – (978) 251-5177 x 0.
Kindergarten screening is a brief assessment, usually lasting about twenty minutes. The screening tool we use has a broad focus. It samples performance in several areas of development: speech, language, cognition, perception, and fine and gross motor coordination. It is NOT an IQ test nor is it intended for use as a school readiness test.
