McCarthy PTO

February 3:  PTO Meeting, 7pm (MCC Library)

    February 5:  McCarthy Science Fair

MCPTO Meeting:  Discussion included reports from the Principal and School Committee, upcoming events, Rock and Roll Bingo, and the 8th grade trip.  Want to find out more about what’s going on at McCarthy?  Join us on February 3rd for our next PTO meeting!

STEM Fair:  Grades 5-8 were able to attend McCarthy’s STEM Fair.  The Fair consisted of a mix of local companies such as Endeavor Robot, Zoll Medical, BAE Systems, and McLean Harvard, as well as High School clubs and classes, FLL League demonstrations, and more.  Ask your child about it!  Thank you to all parents, teachers, and companies who helped out!

Science Fair Registration:  It's time again to put on your lab coats and get out your test tubes!  McCarthy Middle School Science & Engineering Fair takes place this year on February 5th! All students are invited to participate by exploring areas of interest and creating a project, doing an experiment, or presenting information about a topic of interest.  Registration is now open online and closes January 29!  Don't miss out! Please note students can work individually or in groups of two or three, however EACH student must register separately.

    Registration is online at:

If you have questions, please email Theresa at  Science Fair Guidelines and Safety Rules are attached here.

Rock & Roll Bingo:  Rock n’ Roll Bingo, PTO’s biggest event of the year, is just around the corner and we need your help.  Last year, Rock n’ Roll Bingo raised almost $7500 that went directly to enrichment programs for our children.  To make this event a success, we are asking for volunteers to help raise funds, collect donations for gift baskets, and work through all the logistics with us.

  • Get Box Tops Bandwagon!  Free Money for McCarthy!

We are revamping the box tops program this year to increase awareness and generate more participation.  We need your help! In order for this program to be successful, your influence on your students is so important. Last year, we raised $1,600 in money from box tops collections.  We believe that we can raise so much more money through this program.  It's free money sitting in families cabinets at home. We just need to collect them.

Students need to include their names and the teacher name on the bag when they submit the box tops.  That's it! the PTO will do the rest.  Remember that the Teachers are eligible for their own prizes, so be sure to include the teachers name too.

Please check out the website for special offers, coupons, and recipes.

Please also remember to make sure the box top is not expired and that you can see the three letter code on the upper left to ensure we get credit for the box top!
