Wellness Project Proposal
Parker Middle School Principal Jeffery Parks, alongside Chelmsford Eagle Scout Joshua Walsh, presented a Wellness Project proposal to the School Committee, which approved the plan to acquire new outdoor fitness equipment.
Parks announced the middle school recently received a donation from the Fleetwing Charitable Foundation Trust. Prior to winter break last school year, Parks was tasked with listing projects he'd like to see accomplished in or outside the middle school that would be a benefit to the community.
The project will soon be recruiting volunteers and supporters, raising funds and materials, planning the site preparation and reviewing the project to ensure it meets the school's expectations, explained Walsh. The 10 fitness stations will be located near the fence outside the school's parking lot.
Once approved, the proposal is set to go to the Boy Scouts of America's area council. In a few weeks, installation will take place and the fitness station will be ready by the start of next school year. The project seeks $2,500 total in funds from local groups in town.
