Kind Acts at South Row – The Great Kindness Challenge!

During the last week in January, South Row will be participating in “The Great Kindness Challenge.” In addition to enforcing kindness through inspirational quotes and random acts of kindness, we are going to initiative a “pay it forward” system this Kindness Challenge week. Students will be given tickets that remind others of the power of kindness. Students will be asked to attempt to do something kind and pass on this ticket so that kindness might spread through our school community, town community and beyond!

Parent Discussion Night

The topic for the parent discussion night this year is the PBIS initiatives happening at South Row and how we can make the home-school connection for students. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. This framework provides the teaching of common behavioral expectations for the school building as well as common responses and interventions to unexpected behaviors. At South Row, we have put into place: the passport system; the colored PRIDE ticket system and common responses for unexpected behaviors. The PBIS team of teachers will be doing an introduction to this framework, but would like to spend time getting parent input on how we can create expectations for homework to best support families at home. We will also be discussing "Mindfulness strategies" which is used to support our students at school and can be used at home. The South Row School Council invites you to attend this meeting on Thursday January 17th from 7:00-8:00pm to learn more about what is happening at South Row.

South Row Science Fair

This year, the South Row Science Fair will be held on Wednesday February 27th from 6:30 – 8pm (snow date of Thursday February 28th). All students in grades K-4 are invited to prepare a science project of their choice. There are guidelines available to students for their projects. The online sign up for this event will be coming out shortly. Officials will be available the night of the event to listen to student presentations, ask questions and award children their ribbons.
